Homemaker Monday

Hello!

Another new week is upon us and it is an exciting one! We have family coming to visit! I am busy getting all the bedding washed and menu plan written down.

The weather:

Oh golly it has been hot this past week… highs in the mid to upper 90’s with dangerous heat indexes in the 100’s. It’s ‘cooler’ today but that humidity is a killer!

As I look out my window:

Big thunderhead clouds are arriving and I think a little storm is going to blow by soon. Oops! The sun just disappeared.☀️💨🌩️☀️

Right now I am:

Drinking some iced coffee and eating some Greek yogurt. My husband and I have started going to the morning session of water walking in the lazy river section of our town’s water park. It is a good 45 minute workout that I am counting on to strengthen my back and hips so my knee will be less painful.

Thinking and pondering:

I can’t get over my disbelief regarding the attack on democracy that is happening in my country. I told my kids, for the first time ever, I don’t feel very patriotic, even though I have dolled my house up in red white and blue. They encouraged me to think about the America I have loved and have hope we will survive the next 3.5 yesrs. I am also concerned for my adult children who will most likely not be able to afford their health insurance next year if the budget bill passes. Heck, I’m also worried that my husband I might not be able to afford ours on our retirement income.

On my bedside table:

Books and booklight, Bible, a little hand knit star gifted to me by a dear friend.

Listening to:

Nat King Cole on my Pandora station

On the menu

✅ Cheeseburger Tator Tot Casserole

✅Steak and herbed baked potatoes

✅Yum Yum Fried Rice

✅Million Dollar Spaghetti, salad, bread

✅ Smoked drumsticks and ribs, macaroni salad, watermelon, pickled cucumbers, homemade ice-cream

✅Pulled pork sandwiches, coleslaw, mac and cheese

✅Hot dogs/hamburgers, vegetable pasta salad

My to do list:

-finishing getting spare rooms ready

-clean downstairs bathroom

-straighten up my office/craft room

What I am creating:

I have been cross stitching on my Queen Butterfly, pattern by Barbara Ana. Now I am putting it into time out because I am a 1/2 stitch off and I’m irritated with it!

Simple pleasure:

Spending time with my husband every morning water walking at our local water park.

Looking around the house:

I see items that need to be put away before our company comes.

From my camera:

I hope you all have a beautiful week and safe 4th of July!

I am linking up with Sandra today.

  1. I think you are not alone in your feelings (I'm with you) and I also think your kids gave you some great advice. Fourth of July is my favorite holiday and I'm struggling with that a bit this year. I get to spend my summer days with 3-6 year olds, however, and it always gives me lots of hope for the future :) Your hydrangeas and coneflowers are beautiful. Hope you have a great week!
